Nature strip garden, number 1
Have you noticed a garden pop up on the nature strip in Queen Street, Altona? On the 17th April, 2016, members of the ACG completed our first nature strip garden.
A wooden frame was built as the perimeter to the garden bed. This frame must be flush with the ground so that it is not a tripping hazard. The frame helps to keep weeds out of the garden bed.
The soil was sifted for grass and rocks and then enriched with seaweed, coffee grounds and compost.
The finished bed is designed so that water runs off the concrete path.
